When I go to sleep, I wake in different places.
I find myself standing in a grave yard alone.
Its cold empty and dark
No sign of hope.
I begin to sink in the grave.
Despair takes hold of me,
My body numb and frozen
I no longer have strength to fight death.
Now even in my wake death follows me
You now begin to suck the joy out of my life
You are no longer a dream but a reality.
Friends don’t know, how my soul pains
Hope is far from my sight but I still see
A sigh glimmer at a distant.
Now in my wake I see death everywhere
The storms are closing me in.
The sea is pulling me under.
The hangman ties a noose on my neck.
I prepare to take my final breathe
The light that was only a glimmer has enveloped me.
My bones are filled with new strength.
Wings grow from my back, and lift me up.
The noose on my neck breaks
The deep water lose their hold over me
As my wings lift me to new heights.
When I now go back to sleep.
The grave is gone.
The cold has left.
And Death is nowhere in sight.
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak
Even the youth go tired and weary and the young men stumble and fall. But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength
[There are times where we don’t even know what we are going through, Or why we are going through what we are going through, but our Hope in God is what helps us get though it]
Everyday I see someone like me.
And everyday I wake passed you.
Your always alone.
When I see you, I stir at you.
My eyes meet your soul.
I can see your heart.
I can feel your loneliness,
It causes my skin to quiver.
Today I walked passed you.
And this time, I saw me in you.
I paused for a minute,
And walked towards you.
Looking for any excuse in the world,
To take away some of the loneliness.
Hi… I said with a smile.
And my smile made you smile.
Joy entered your bones.
And loneliness fled the scene.
And a beautiful conversation started.
There lived a guy named Themba, he was tall and handsome with a nice trimmed cut with burned sides. He lived in the city of Gauteng Johannesburg, Themba at that point was going through a rough path in his life. His wife left and divorced him. Themba would go far deep into the City of Johannesburg to a bar named The Cocktail Lounge. It was the best bar in the city with star recommendations. It had the best music that echoed as it hit the walls, there were beautiful ladies serving on a trey that would take his mind off his sorrows. At what Themba loved most about it was the bartender, he would make drinks that would set him free from worry, stress, anxiety and the pain he felt.
There was another bar that was just around the corner in which Themba would pass every time he would make his way to The Cocktail Lounge. This bar was not the most glamorous bar in the block and there was a rumour that they only served some kind of water there. The bar was called Hill Tops. It only had a few people, most of the costumers left to go to the fancier bar that most people would say was a paradise.
Themba developed a curiosity about the bar, but he was happy at The Cocktail Lounge. Even though he was hurting the rest of the day except for the time he was at this Cocktail Lounge for the two hours of paradise. Whilst at the bar Themba would do what he always enjoyed doing which was talking to the bartender, he became something like Themba’s priest, while he was indulging himself in drinking. The bartenders name was Seth Damion. Oh he had a clever tongue whatever words he said, would sound like the truth. He knew how to make people feel good about themselves. He would give his customers advice that seemed to be the cure for all their life’s problem, but was actually a match that would light a spark to them.
One fateful day, as Themba was walking down the road to the place he rest his mind. To lay in sins bed for the next hour. He felt the other bar calling him, this time it was not like the other time, it was like he heard a quite whisper in his ear saying ‘come’. Themba decided that maybe it’s time for a change of scenery for a while, so he made his way to Hill Tops. The place was like nothing he imagined, it seemed to be a regular bar on the outside. So Themba took a sit at the bar. At this point Themba started a conversation with the bartender as it was his routine of doing at this point, Themba read the name Jes on the bartenders name tag. The bartender tried to correct him but was shut down, Themba just wanted to get his worries off his chest with a drink of Hunters Dry or something strong like Vodka.
Themba asked for a drink Hunters to get his night started, the bartender said ‘sorry we don’t serve that here’. Themba then asked for a drink of Gin iced, the bartender also did not serve that too. The bar men then told him the only drink they served at this bar was water. Themba chuckled and said ‘really the rumours are true’ with a look of disbelieve on his face, he asked himself what kind of bar is this that does not serve alcohol, he then finally said with a higher pitch what do you serve then’, he was frustrated at this point and needed a drink to soak all his sorrows and worries. Jes told him that they only sold water not just any water, a special type of water that could only be found here witch was actually shipped from a foreign country.
Themba took the drink and had a sip of it, its texture was like water, but the taste was not like everyday water, it had a sweet taste to it and it had a small punch to it. It was unlike anything he ever had. Themba started talking to the bar man and said things he never had said to others and during this time he realised things that he was at fault for and finally took responsibility for it, Jes was there as a ear to listen and guide him. As Themba continued talking he drank more and more water. And he realised the more he drank the happier he would become. He asked the bar man what kind of water was this and the bar man answered, ‘Its living water’. He then further went on to say ‘My name is not Jes, but Jesus the uniform is getting old and I need to get that fixed, are you enjoying your drink.’
Themba was shocked and amazed he knew that there was something different to this bartender, he knew this was true deep inside his soul. His mind was blown wide open, he asked Jesus what is the reason for this encounter and he said ‘I am here for you, I am here so that you can have life, and have it to the fullest. I love you and want to set you free from the hole you are in, I’ve been called from the start and today you heard me. Take my living water and let me in so I can help you’. Themba was happy to surrender his life to the bartender, he knew there is nothing that can go wrong with him by his side.
From that day Themba was happier in life, and full of joy. He stopped drinking and changed his life for the better. Hill Tops bar mysteriously disappeared after that day. Themba thought maybe he was drunk that day and he was seeing things, but that day illusion or not his life was changed forever. Themba felt like he was reborn, a new person. He searched for the place where he could get some of that drink of water he had had in the bar, He found a church although the water did not come in the same shape, he still knew and felt, a gentle touch of that bartenders presence in the church. He finally was set let free from the prison he was in and brought in to the light, a better life of purpose and never ending joy like a fairy tale with a Happily Ever After.
we all have seasons where we face had times and we tend to down in emotions of anger, regret, loneliness. At this time we would make bad decision in attempt to comfort ourselves. Like drinking or any substance and there are those who would even scar themselves. Well i’m here to tell you today that its not over. You don’t have to go through the worst on your own, you may think nobody person understand you, but there is one who knows you inside out, he wants to be with you in this times, where you are pushing everyone away. He want to listen to all the things you want to say. He has not come t o condemn you (John 3:17), but to give you life and life in abundance (John 10:10). He want you to come lay your burdens on him, so he can give rest to your soul and remove all the weight that on your chest (Matt 11:27-28). Don’t give up God got you, just call on him and he will be there.
John 3:17 (condemnation)
17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
John 10:10 (abundant life)
10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
Matthew 11:28-29 ( Rest & peace of mind)
28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am[f]gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
My love for you is deeper than the ocean
As wide as the east is from the west
As vast as the galaxy
It beginning but has no end
It is as certain as the hours on the clock
It’s mathematical equivalent to infinity (∞)
It is extravagant in all things
It’s forever merciful to the messy
It’s as radiant as the sun
And more beautiful than the heaven
It came to give without return
Forgive the unforgiving
And above all
LOVE the undeserving.
This poem speaks of Gods love for you specifically, you may be broken on the inside going through the most of life, you could wondering if God exist. Where ever you are, The Lord Jesus Christ is saying He loves you so so so much, more you can ever know.
